Install plymouth radio
I know that, on a Plymouth, the stock radio control head slides in the dash in place of the driver's side ash tray, but how was the radio BOX itself mounted?
Does anybody know whether there was there a bracket or special hardware on the inside of the firewall or floor for mounting? Based on my 38 Dodge which should be the same. The radio box fits above the steering column. This is why the box has a slant to it speaker towards the column. It will have tabs on the box.
One of the lower tabs is shown in the attached picture. Bolts go through these tabs and firewall. My question is not about the hardware or bracket on the box but as follows: "Does anybody know whether there was there a bracket or special hardware on the inside of the firewall or floor for mounting? This should mount the same way as in my 36 Dodge. I do not have the original bracket but saw a very old looking one for a sample that I think was right and have a very close facsimile of that old one that works well for me.
See photos. I do not have the dimensions in mind but it is just long enough to span the outside edges of the brackets on the back of the radio and the "lip" is just deep enough to accept the full length of the tangs on those brackets. I would not be surprised if most radios were just mounted with carriage bolts right in those brackets.
That would be doable but hard to manage. Hermosa Motor 2 includes a rear-mounted USB port for flash drives plus two standard auxiliary inputs and has front and rear RCA pre-outs that allow the ability to add external amplifiers. Retro Manufacturing radios are a modular design. Assembly is required. This design allows for a more adjustable fit and to offer different style options. RetroSound Radios are only compatible with 12V negative grounding vehicles.
The first one arrived in a large envelop. Can you guess. Yep, it was bent. The seller sent a second one. This one arrived broken in half. I requested he send the next one in a box or refund my money. The third one, in a box, was in perfect condition. Look closely, you can see the bend. Third time was the charm. With the interior out of the car, installation of the system was a breeze. I measured the distance between the dash holes for the control knobs and adjusted the radio knobs to this dimension.
The radio slid right in place. I did have to modify the original radio bezel so it would fit over the new radio. The dual cone speaker was much bigger than the speaker I removed but the bolt holes lined right up.
The speaker magnet is very close maybe touching the back side of the dash. I am hoping it does not rattle. I used quick connect wire connectors so I can easily remove the rear speakers if I want. The most popular radio stations are on top of the list, and you can find something special for yourself by searching by genre or country. The box on the right-hand side shows the currently broadcast tracks.
You can switch between stations simply by clicking on the tracks you want to hear. You can leave your e-mail and we will let you know when the broadcast of the station will be online again: Or listen to the other United Kingdom stations.
